Defining a job role

A job role is a named bundle of required skills and levels — "Senior Support Engineer" might require Communication level 3, Product knowledge level 4, and Escalation handling level 2. Once defined, roles drive the Talent Pool's role-based search and each learner's skill-gap view.

Before you start

You need the Admin role and the skills you plan to require already existing in your taxonomy.

Creating a role

  1. Open Manage → Job Roles.
  2. Click New role and name it.
  3. Add the required skills, and the minimum level for each.
  4. Save.

Notes

A role with no required skills is not useful for search or gap analysis — the whole point of Job Roles is the bundle. Keep bundles realistic: requiring every skill in your taxonomy at the top level will make almost nobody match in the Talent Pool.
