Writing a good marketplace listing description

MarketplaceUpdated September 24, 2026

Your listing description is written for a buying organization, not an individual learner — it needs to answer "should we license this course for our people" rather than "should I personally take this."

What to lead with

  • What the course actually covers and who it's for — be specific, not just "comprehensive training."
  • Why it's worth licensing rather than building in-house: depth, production quality, how current it is.
  • Anything that reduces a buyer's risk — a free preview unit, reviews from other tenants, evidence the course is actively maintained.

Use your assets

Pair the description with a clear cover image and, if you have one, a free preview unit — buyers on the storefront weigh the preview and reviews as heavily as the copy itself.

Notes

Avoid describing the course as if the reader will take it personally — phrases like "you'll learn to..." read oddly to a buyer evaluating it for their organization. Write to the decision-maker, not the eventual learner.
